A slow living weekend in Provence, South of France
We had the delightful opportunity to spend the post-Easter weekend at Mas des verveines, a charming Provençal house nestled in Courthézon, Vaucluse
An enchanting stone house, exuding warmth, adorned with a spacious garden, a refreshing swimming pool, and captivating scenery.
In the garden, there are Mediterranean flora thrives, boasting olive trees, pomegranates, laurels, fragrant lavender, resilient cacti, aromatic thyme, sage, invigorating mint, and flavorful basil. Moreover, you’ll find fruit trees like figs and pears as well…
A cozy home that ensures a deep and restful sleep.
The first rays of sunlight and the sweet melodies of birdsong gently woke us up.
The interior is adorned with delicate touches of harmonious colors: wooden furniture and objects in natural materials with a subtle touch of gold, stoneware tableware, and textiles in shades of sage green. An incredibly relaxing and peaceful atmosphere envelops this place.
For breakfast: croissants and pastries purchased from au fournil de Brunoàin Courthézon. Then we went to buy some field strawberries and green asparagus fromFanny. A real treat of seasonal fruit and vegetables for lunch.
The bakery is open all day. Strawberries and asparagus are available from 9:30 a.m. at the National 7 roundabout in Courthézon. If you arrive late in the morning, the queue may be long. On the other hand, time flies with the magnificent landscape of the vineyards and Mont Ventoux.
A walk in Avignon
The journey by car from Courthézon to Avignon takes 20 minutes for a distance of approximately 20 km.
An afternoon walk. I fell in love with this city and the local shops.
A short break for some sweet cravings We stopped to look at the pretty nougats made in Provence. The saleswoman was very nice. She suggested that we taste all the flavors. Normally, I rarely eat nougat. But at the Fromagerie de Louise, they all are delicious, especially the pistachio one.
Le bistro 23 : a bistronomic gem in Courthézon
The wonderful discovery of the region continues, we had dinner at bistro 23, bistro 23, a fine-dining restaurant managed by a lovely couple. Olympe livens up the place with her cheerful conversations and gives good wine advice. Sean, a chef from New Zealand, creates delicious and poetic dishes with his floral & creative decoration. A diverse culinary experience with flavors from around the world. What a delight!
Addresse : 3 place Édouard Daladier, Courthézon
A delightful personal surprise that truly warms my heart: a fantastic serving of Tom Yum Kung taste in the appetizer (first photo).” Very fresh and full of Thai spices.
Sunday activity
Sunday morning, we went to Marché Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, a charming market located in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, a picturesque town in the Vaucluse department.
As you wander through the market, you will discover a delicious range of stalls displaying fresh produce, local specialties, crafts, antiques, lavender sachets, Provençal fabrics and tableware and much more. The canals add a lively touch, making the shopping experience unique and picturesque. What a wonderful weekend!
